East London Skip Hire t/a A & A Skips

Permit Information

Each council has different rules for skip hire permits.

We are a licensed skip company who is listed with the following councils:

• Enfield,
• Barnet
• Waltham Forest
• Redbridge
• Newham
• Essex
• Hackney

If you are having a skip on the road in these councils we will apply for your skip licence/permit (except for Redbridge, as they only deal with the public) and charge you the relevant fee including the skip price on delivery.

All councils vary on price (from £25 to £40) and how long each will allow you to keep the skip on that particular permit. Additionally, each council varies on how many days notice they require to issue a permit.

If you are having a skip in a council that is not listed above, including Redbridge, you will need to contact that council yourself. Before you do this call us and we will:

  • Give you the correct number for the area you need the skip for
  • Reserve a skip for your required date
  • Provide you with the relevant details the permit will require (name and address of skip hire company)

You will then be required to telephone the council and provide them with your skip hire details and payment details.

They will then give you a permit number which we will require before we can deliver you your skip.

Note: that Enfield council rarely allow an off road skip and so require a permit most times.
It is possible to apply for permission to have a skip sited off road but most of the time it will be declined or a large deposit taken to ensure there is no damage to services running across your entrance.

Lighting of skip
It is the customers responsibility to ensure that the skip is lit at night (ie between half an hour after sunset and an hour before sunrise). An amber light should be placed against or best attached to each corner of the skip (to prevent them being stolen).
It is an offence not to have the skip lit and the council will charge a fine/fee of £99. You should also consider any potential prosecution if an accident occurs as a consequence of an illegally unlit skip.
